Classification Quick Reference

Your qualifying scores must be achieved in a calendar year, and a claim form plus supporting results sheets submitted to Membership Services by 31 December.
Once an archer gains a classification their title remains for one year after it was gained.
You can hold classifications for different bow types.

252 Progress Scheme

The “252” Scheme was designed to help new archers to practice shooting at different distances and recognise their achievements.

The basic principle, is if you can average all your arrows in the red or gold, using Imperial/5-zone scoring, you will achieve a score of 252 or better.

By scoring at each distance, it will give you a benchmark of how you are progressing and allow you to decide when you should start shooting longer distances; you will only achieve 252 by maintaining consistent, good technique. Poor technique will show up as you shoot the longer distances!

The Rules

  • Six sighters to be followed immediately by three dozen scored arrows.
  • 5-zone scoring using a 122cm (large) target face.
  • Let one of the Committee know you are shooting a “252” round.
  • The “252” round can be part of another conventional round.
  • Scores must be witnessed and validated by another club member.
